Ujigami™

U·ji·ga·mi (oo-jee-gaw-mee) n.

1. tutelar deity (god) of a Japanese village.

In ancient Japanese folk religion (Shinto), the Ujigami of each local community played an important role in combining and harmonizing different elements and powers. These local gods were unique to each village and symbolized the village unit. They watched over the village and protected it from harm.

Ujigami™ is a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) developed over a period of 20 years while providing plant floor solutions to Automotive companies. This comprehensive product offers:

The Ujigami™ Framework

The Ujigami™ framework is a tightly integrated suite of hardware and software modules that work together to provide you with faultless plant-floor monitoring and control. The three primary layers of this framework are:

Presentation Layer

• XML Web-based interface
• Formats data for presentation on monitors, printers, and other devices (cell phones, PDAs, etc)
• Operator interface to manually enter information into the logic layer
• Provides an on-line view of all real-time and historical information including broadcast data, part data, shipping information and various date/time statuses, and any integrated application data, such as test data, torque data, lot numbers, trace data, etc. for monitoring, SPC, and problem resolution

Logic Layer

• User configurable with complete security hierarchy
• Maintains a history of all events, including production and quality measurements (e.g. build/shipping counts, uptime/ downtime, lot traceability, product measurables, system and operation actions)
• Performs validation to ensure data integrity
• Intelligent rules-based decision making applied to real-time events and historical data to determine appropriate actions
• Data can then be sent back to either the Interface Layer for plant floor activity (start or stop a machine or line, adjust operating parameters, etc), or the Presentation Layer for higher level notification
• For large systems, the Logic Layer may be comprised of two or more computers – at least one for supplying real-time decision making, and one to manage the events database

Interface Layer

• An industrial, fault tolerant module that physically connects to plant floor devices
• Hot-swappable – automatically downloads appropriate software modules when components are added or changed
• Key interface between Ujigami™ and all external data sources including plant-floor devices (PLCs, operator displays [marquees], digital I/O [push buttons, lights], fastening equipment, barcode scanners, etc.) and other manufacturing systems (e.g. Scheduling software) located close to the data sources to which they are connected
• High speed Ethernet connection to the Ujigami™ framework
• Local non-volatile program and data storage without the use of mechanical storage devices (e.g. disk drives) to prevent data loss even if other components fail
• This layer constantly monitors itself independent of all other layers to protect against faulty or failed components
• Optionally includes a small LCD display and a keypad on each module for troubleshooting purposes
• Optionally PC/104 Plus compliant ultra-compact (3.6" x 3.8") stackable modules
